M52-P3 Hand Grenade
Description
This is the Yugoslavian M52-P3 (M52П3), a high-explosive fragmentation (HE-Frag), striker-release, delay-detonating, internally serrated, hand grenade.
The inside of the grenade is serrated for fragmentation.
The grenade body is of cast steel and has a threaded hole in the top to receive the pyrotechnic delay fuze.
The safety pin is removed, freeing the safety lever which is held in place manually.
When the grenade is thrown, the safety lever is released and is forced away from the body by a spring-loaded striker.
The striker impacts a percussion primer that ignites a pyrotechnic delay and then between 3.5 and 4.5 seconds later, the grenade detonates.
The inside of the grenade body has a matrix of cast grooves that improve a regular fragmentation pattern.
The grenade is supposed to produce approximately 100 to 150 fragments.
